Irrigation Jurisdiction

The workstation manages the trunk canal within the jurisdiction area. The Taoyuan Canal Water Inlet starts from the back pool of Shimen Reservoir in Longtan Township, passes through leading channels and the main canal and ends at Shangtian Village in Yangmei Township. There is an overflow weir leading into Shezi River. The latter is located in the Hukou irrigation area which is a plateau with no reliable water source. In 1950, the main canal of the Hukou irrigation area was completed and connected to the end of Taoyuan Canal to guide excess water from the canal into the pond for storage during the flood season. In 1956, it was officially merged into the jurisdiction of the Taoyuan Irrigation Association. As such, Taoyuan Canal starts at Shimen Reservoir in Longtan Township and ends at Kengzikou in Xinfeng Township, Hsinchu County.
