The construction of the Taoyuan Canal irrigation system facilitated the management of irrigation facilities and irrigation water allocation for Lateral Canal 1 of Taoyuan Canal.
- It was established in 1921 as Taoyuan Monitoring Station and located at No. 56 Minzu Road, Taoyuan City.
- 1948, Renamed Taoyuan Management Station.
- 1956, Renamed Taoyuan Workstation and set up Shanjiao Sub-workstation.
- 1962, Relocated to No. 145, Fuxing Road, Taoyuan City.
- 1985, Relocated to No. 10-1, Lane 78, Shoufa Road, Taoyuan City.
- Building and land: The workstation is located at Land plot No. 1037-005, Fazheng Section, Taoyuan City. It is on the upper floor of the Taoyuan Irrigation Association Employees Activity Center, was built in 1985 and covers an area of 350m².
When it was first established, the workstation managed 16 storage pools and 12 river weirs on Lateral Canal 1 of the Taoyuan Canal. The irrigation area included Taoyuan Zhenzhong Road, Dashulin, Puzi, Dakuai River and Xiaokuai River, Shuibiantou, Danan and Xiaonan in Bade Township, Shanding in Guishan Township and the Nankanxia (river bottom) of Luzhu Township, with an area of 1,205 hectares. Nankan Canal was built in 1959 and increased the irrigation area by about 800 hectares. After Nankanding Canal was completed in 1962, the irrigation area increased to 2,380 hectares. In 1974, in order to meet the needs of the Taoyuan Refinery built by the government, 150 hectares of irrigation area group 2 and 3 in the Nankanding Canal irrigation area were expropriated. Following construction of Guishan Industrial Zone, the urban development of Taoyuan City, and construction of residential and apartment buildings, the irrigation area of the workstation fell to 2,051 hectares by 1984. It was further reduced to 1,718 hectares by the end of 1988. In June 1989, 436 hectares of irrigation area from 4 groups, including Kengkou, Haihu, Tianliao 1 and 2 groups in Dazhu Workstation area were merged into the current workstation area, and the area increased to 2,154 hectares.
