Introduction
The Oyster Shell Port Canal is fed by the twelfth lateral canal of the Taoyuan Main Canal, which connects to Shezi Creek and uses a weir for water intake and irrigation. Between 1964 and 1968, the canal system was expanded through a three-phase land consolidation project, adding 14 ponds. In 1985, Pond 9-1 was established in cooperation with the Taoyuan District Agricultural Research and Extension Station, bringing the total to 15 ponds.
Pond No. 4 is surrounded by swaying silvergrass, towering acacia trees, and various species of wild and migratory birds, making it a favorite spot for nature lovers and bird watchers.
